THE ARTISTS
Ivan Hrkaš (1978) moved to Israel at the age of 14, where he graduated from Seligsberg High School in Jerusalem, as the valedictorian of his class. While enrolled in the prestigious Academy of Fine Arts Becalel he decided to return to Sarajevo where he continued his studies of Graphic Design at the Academy of Fine Arts. He earned his BA in 2004 and his MA in Photography in 2011 from the Sarajevo Academy of Fine Arts. Since 2005 Hrkaš has been teaching Photography at the Sarajevo Academy of Fine Arts, as the assistant lecturer in the class of Professor Mehmet A. Akšamija. From September 2011 onwards he has been teaching Introduction to Photography I and II. Since 2012, Hrkaš has also been teaching Photography at the College of Design in Ljubljana (Slovenia), as a visiting professor. During the past five years his primary interest has been sociological photography, which is also the focus of his Master’s thesis. Hrkaš's work has been exhibited in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austria, Tunisia, Serbia, Slovenia, Great Britain, Israel, Mexico, USA, and has received awards in numerous festivals. He has been actively involved in the organization of the “Sarajevo Winter” cultural festival, as well as variety of national and international culture and arts projects. His work in graphic design and photography has been published in domestic and international publications. Hrkaš’s interests and work extend beyond photography and graphic design. For seven years he was an active member of the choir Pontanima, contributing to inter-religious reconciliation in BiH. Ivan Hrkaš lives and works in Sarajevo.
Nemanja Nikolić (1987) graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade in 2010, department of Painting. Currently a student of doctoral art studies at same faculty. Since 2008 his works was exhibited on numerous solo and group exhibitions. Participated in a number of festivals in Serbia and abroad. He is author of two murals in public places in Belgrade. He has won several awards, such as Award for drawing from Vladimir Veličkovič Fund and Award for an exceptional creative innovation from Miloš Bajić Fund. Nemanja Nikolić is initiator of Belgrade based U10 Art Space. Lives and works in Belgrade.

Jovana Vujanović (1986) Graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cetinje, department for graphic studies and printmaking. Attended P: 142, Artist in Residence, Berlin, Germany, 2012. Gjorgje Jovanovik (1980) In 2003 he graduated at the Department of Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Skopje, Macedonia. In his recent work, the question of the integration and disintegration of the contemporary man has been his preoccupation. He re-examine interpersonal communication in the context of the general situation of redefining universal values, man-society relations, and consumerism as a key factor of modern life style, politics as a factor of disintegration of the cities, states, and families…Also, the element of self-reference is present – a re- examination of the self in inner or extensive contexts of decaying old, and creating new values. Using no limits in media he has worked on installations, performances, objects, videos, collages, and paintings in order to achieve a transformation of the artistic dimensions of his individual expression by following up the fluidity of the contemporary context. He has realized several solo exhibitions in Macedonia and abroad. (MC Gallery, New York, 2010), Gallery Centrum, Graz,etc. He also took part in numerous group exhibitions, symposia, workshops and conferences in Macedonia, Albania, Serbia, Bosnia, Slovenia, Greece, Turkey , Austria, Italy, Netherlands, France, Spain, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, Egypt , USA. He has participated on several residency programs: 2013 TICA Tirana, 2012- Cité internationale des Arts, Paris, France, 2011- Watermill Centre, New York and Apartment project, Istanbul, Turkey, 2010- ISCP New York and in Graz, Austria. For his practice, he has been awarded with the award for young visual artist “Denes” in 2009 video award at Alternative Film/Video in Belgrade in 2009 special award at the Akto Festival in Bitola, Macedonia in 2012 and the award of the 10 Biennial of Young Artist organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art in Skopje, Macedonia in 2013. Driton Selmani (1987) Holds a MFA from The Arts University Bournemouth UK. His artistic investigation is in a constant 'experimental initiative' and it has a close relation with complexities occurred in his cultural identity. Cultural belonging, dualism and migration are forms of his artistic research that I he’s focused on, as elements of significance in his attempt to combine the past and present events in my creative process as intention to arouse new tools of thinking that reflects the current reality related to his exploration. Lives and works in Prishtina and Doganaj.
Tea Hatadi (1980) graduated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb in 2008, where she started PhD in painting the same year. She studied two semesters at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague- Cezch Republic (CEEPUS grant). She participated in several workshops and festivals in Croatia and abroad, spent 3 mounths at residence KulturKontakt in Vienna and 2 mounths residence Kunstenaarlogies in Amersfoort, The Netherlands. Showed her works and performances at about forty exhibitions in Croatia, NL, SR, BiH, Monte Negro, UK, AU and CZ. Since 2006. she is the co-founder and member of artistic group Projekt6, and also member of CAA and Croatian Freelance Astists’Association. She is the author and director of more visual and educational workshops for children and adults and also the author of a several international art project. She works with various materials and media. Her video works were exhibited in several exhibitions and on the festival «Vizura Aperta Momjano 12» where she was awarded for her work. Lives and works in Zagreb as curator of Ring Gallery and PM Gallery at Croatian Association of Artists.

Maja Smrekar (1978) is inter-media artist whose main interest is based at the phenomenology of perception. In the past six years she has executed projects within which she was researching frequency phenomena through biofeedback and thelematic presence in relations to the body, privacy and (inter)subjective perception of space. She has developed several projects within the field of bio-art focusing on living organisms as well as projects based on her own intimate experiences related to the broader socio-political circumstances of her immediate environment. In 2005 she graduated at the Sculpture Department of Fine Art Academy in Ljubljana and is currently finishing MA at the New Media Department. She has been awarded first prize at the Cynetart festival 2012 by the European Centre for Arts Hellerau (Dresden, Germany), received Honorary mention at the Ars Electronica festival 2013 (Linz, Austria), as well as the Golden Bird Award 2013 – the national prize for special achivements in the field of visual art awarded by the Liberal Academy, Association for Political Democracy and Liberalism Research (Ljubljana, Slovenia). She lives and works in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Branka Vujanović (1979), art historian and curator, completed her graduate and postgraduate studies in History of modern art at the Faculty of Philosophy Belgrade. She is currently doctoral candidate at Justus-Liebig University in Giessen (Germany) and working as a curator at Sarajevo City Gallery „Collegium artisticum“. As a researcher in the field of humanities, she was a member of GCSC-International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (Giessen, Germany), and participated in international conferences: 1st International Congress for Young Researchers in the Humanities, Campus Ciutadella, Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona, April 18-20, 2012; Graduate Student Conference Sinn und Sinnlichkeit: Uses and Abuses of Aesthetics Today, Cornell University Johnson Museum of Art, New York Ithaca, February 18-19, 2011; International Graduate Conference (Mis-)Representations: Trauma Discourses and Cultural Productions, University Zürich, 17.10.2009. Miroslav Karić (1975) holds a BA in Art History from the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade (2000). Since 2001, Karić has been a curator and a secretary at the independent Art Association Remont, and from 2003 a member of the editorial team of Remont Art Magazine. Ljiljana Karadzić graduated Art history at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade (2000). She is currently attending PhD studies at the same Faculty. She is employed at the Contemporary Art Centre of Montenegro on the position of artistic director. Since 2009 she is editor of the magazine for contemporary art “Artcentrala”. She was curator and coordinator of exhibitions where Montenegrin contemporary art was presented abroad (Sanct Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Brussels, Sofia, Ljubljana, Belgrade, Pristina, Zagreb). She was selector at the 45th Winter Salon in Herceg Novi, "Interactions" (2012); project coordinator for "Looking Forward - South Eastern Europe Contemporary Art" (National Museum, Cetinje, 2010); she was one of the curators for the regional project "Recognition 1 & 2" (2007-2012). She is author of numerous texts on Montenegrin contemporary art. Areas of interest include Montenegrin art after World War II in the context of influences of ideology on art and contemporary Montenegrin art. Elena Veljanovska (1979), freelance curator based between Skopje and Berlin. In 2006, graduates at the Art History and archaeology Faculty in Skopje, currently signed an MA course in the filed of Cultural studies at the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities, Skopje. Since 2003 is working actively in initiating cultural projects and exhibitions. She is using the curatorial practice as a tool for critical approach and creating an environment for problematizing issues that are in her wider interest and are in a close or distant relation with arts: public space, technology, politics, politics of memory. In 2006 she is forming Line I+M, platform for new media art and technology, and in 2009 she works as a guest-curator in Stedefreund gallery in Berlin, and as a co-curator of the Macedonian Pavillion at the 53 International Art exhibition in Venice. 2009-2010, she is holding lectures as part of the “Visions of art - Contemporary Art E-learning program” (Germany-Mexico); and realises several international projects. In 2010-11 works as a curator and editor of the publication for the SEAFAIR – Electronic arts festival ’10 and ‘11th edition. Since 2012 she is actively involved in the creation of the Association of the Independent cultural scene as a program coordinator and part of the decision making board of the Association, and also working as an executive director of the cultural organization Kontrapunkt, Skopje.

Lulzim Zeqiri studied painting in Prishtina University, art departament. He works in field of video and documentary films as well. Several times he was involved in some important curatorial projects. Based in Prishtina, Alterantive experimental space, “Creative Garden DUDI.” Is a place where he can be found.
Ivana Meštrov is an independant curator and scientific researcher at the Art History Department of the Faculty of Philosophy at the Split University. She is one of the co-curators oft he Young Artist Biennial Mediterranea 16/Errors Allowed (6/6/-31/8/2013, Ancona, IT). Miha Colner (1978) is an art historian who, since 2005, has been working as freelance curator, art critic, educator and editor. Since 2006 he is a curator and project manager at Ljubljana based Photon – Centre for Contemporary Photography and curator, editor and member of organisational board of biannual Photonic Moments festival. He is the curator and editor of Aftermath. Changing Cultural Landscape project that explores tendencies of engaged contemporary photography reflecting the political, cultural and economic transition in former Yugoslavia between 1991 and 2011. In the period 2006-2011 he was curator and editor of DIVA (Digital Video Archive), archival and research project of SCCA – Centre for Contemporary Art in Ljubljana. She is author of numerous texts on Montenegrin contemporary art. Areas of interest include Montenegrin art after World War II in the context of influences of ideology on art and contemporary Montenegrin art. She is member of the Fine Arts board of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts and ICOM. Lives and works in Podgorica.

Elena Veljanovska (1979), freelance curator based between Skopje and Berlin. In 2006, graduates at the Art History and archaeology Faculty in Skopje, currently signed an MA course in the filed of Cultural studies at the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities, Skopje. Since 2003 is working actively in initiating cultural projects and exhibitions. She is using the curatorial practice as a tool for critical approach and creating an environment for problematizing issues that are in her wider interest and are in a close or distant relation with arts: public space, technology, politics, politics of memory. In 2006 she is forming Line I+M, platform for new media art and technology, and in 2009 she works as a guest-curator in Stedefreund gallery in Berlin, and as a co-curator of the Macedonian Pavillion at the 53 International Art exhibition in Venice. 2009-2010, she is holding lectures as part of the “Visions of art - Contemporary Art E-learning program” (Germany-Mexico); and realises several international projects. In 2010-11 works as a curator and editor of the publication for the SEAFAIR – Electronic arts festival ’10 and ‘11th edition. Since 2012 she is actively involved in the creation of the Association of the Independent cultural scene as a program coordinator and part of the decision making board of the Association, and also working as an executive director of the cultural organization Kontrapunkt, Skopje.

Lulzim Zeqiri studied painting in Prishtina University, art departament. He works in field of video and documentary films as well. Several times he was involved in some important curatorial projects. Based in Prishtina, Alterantive experimental space, “Creative Garden DUDI.” Is a place where he can be found.
Ivana Meštrov is an independant curator and scientific researcher at the Art History Department of the Faculty of Philosophy at the Split University. She is one of the co-curators oft he Young Artist Biennial Mediterranea 16/Errors Allowed (6/6/-31/8/2013, Ancona, IT). She is one of the founders and active members of Loose Associations contemporary art practices. Lives and works in Zagreb and Split.

Miha Colner (1978) is an art historian who, since 2005, has been working as freelance curator, art critic, educator and editor. Since 2006 he is a curator and project manager at Ljubljana based Photon – Centre for Contemporary Photography and curator, editor and member of organisational board of biannual Photonic Moments festival. He is the curator and editor of Aftermath. Changing Cultural Landscape project that explores tendencies of engaged contemporary photography reflecting the political, cultural and economic transition in former Yugoslavia between 1991 and 2011. In the period 2006-2011 he was curator and editor of DIVA (Digital Video Archive), archival and research project of SCCA – Centre for Contemporary Art in Ljubljana. Since 2005 he has been working as a contributor and editor at Radio Student Ljubljana, where he was in the period 2007-2012 editing Art-Area, biweekly programme on contemporary art, and has been contributing articles and interviews for various magazines, newspapers and publications such as Dnevnik, Fotografija – Magazine on Photography, Art Words, Folio, Frakcija, Art Kontura, Zarez, Kulturpunkt, Flaneur and for other occasional publications and projects. He lives and works in Ljubljana.
